Thank you to Copenhagen for organizing the 7th edition of WorldPride!

WorldPride 2021 was held in Copenhagen last month, with over 1,000 events spanning sports, culture, human rights, and Pride. Visit the archive of live streams to see more. COVID-19 travel restrictions prevented many people from making it there in person, but some members of the leadership team from InterPride were able to attend and march at WorldPride 2021. InterPride also organized four panels at the Human Rights Conference on Wednesday, August 18; WorldPride, Pride in Hostile Environments, Pride & Race, and Pride Trailblazers and Luminaries, all free to stream.

Also, in Copenhagen, at the closing ceremony was the official handover to Sydney for WorldPride 2023. See the latest from them, including the new logo here. Start planning now — It’s happening in only 17 months!

Sydney WorldPride 2023

InterPride is excited to announce the official handover to our Pride organizers in Sydney! WorldPride 2023 is being led by Kate Wickett, the first woman CEO to ever take the top leadership position for WorldPride since its inception in 2000. InterPride is looking forward to 2023 and would like to thank everyone in advance for your dedication to keeping the Pride movement alive and well!

The team at Sydney WorldPride 2023 would like to share some updates about the events happening during the festival in February and March 2023. Festival Creative Director, Dan Clarke, and Festival Creative Director — First Nations, Ben Graetz are hosting this info session online via Zoom to chat about their work so far, the milestones coming up, and the developing calendar of Sydney WorldPride events.

World timings for this free online update on Tuesday, September 14th at 5 pm GMT:

Los Angeles: 10 am PST
New York: 1 pm EST
London: 6 pm BST

The InterPride 2021 Annual General Meeting & World Conference will be held virtually, hosted by InterPride, and coordinated by the Conference Structure & Integrity Committee (CISC). Click here to register.

Are you interested in serving on a hard-working Board for a leader in the international Pride movement? Do you have the skills for these executive officer positions?

Vice President, Global Outreach and Partnership Management (Male / Trans / Gender Non-Conforming; Non-U.S.)

Unless otherwise specified, the positions do not have a gender or geographical requirement. These positions will begin from November 2021.

Candidates will need to submit:

Letter of Intent to include:
• full name of the applicant,
• the name of the full member organization they are affiliated with, and
• the Board position being applied for, why they are interested in the position, what they can bring to InterPride, and what similar positions they have held previously.
Biography (maximum 400 words) Please note: Letter of Intent and Biography can be combined but must not exceed 400 words.
Portrait/headshot — high-resolution, preferably 300 dpi
Letter of Endorsement to be signed by their affiliated full member organization (on letterhead)
Contact details of three (3) people who can provide references, i.e., personal, professional, or Pride-related.

We hear from Somali immigrant and trans activist who lives in Denmark, Moeisha Ali Aden, and a former Professional Ice Hockey player who is the third player to come out in the world of hockey, Jon Lee-Olsen. Recorded while WorldPride was going on, we also hear from the Copenhagen WorldPride Director since 2013, Lars Henriksen, and have the honor of hearing from an Italian LGBTQIA+ leader who launched and organized the first WorldPride in Rome back in 2000, Imma Battaglia. There’s a first for everything, and we hear from queer performing artist Jean Michel and his new song for the first time, Heartbreak. Our closing guest is Kate Wickett, the first woman CEO leading WorldPride in Sydney in 2023!

These guests share their experiences, messages of hope and offer a map for us to follow in the continuing fight for LGBTQIA+ equity worldwide!
